Design of the publishing offices
We designed the new offices for the joint publishing houses hanserblau and Hanser Berlin at Lehrter Strasse 54. The challenge was to preserve the character of the loft floor with its open-plan layout, whilst also creating the possibility of temporary spatial divisions to accommodate the varying needs of the staff. The acoustic curtains are a key design and spatial element; they significantly reduce room noise whilst also temporarily separating workstations. Shelving units that can be suspended between the ceiling and floor serve as additional visual screens. Additional counter-height bookcases divide the centre of the room and can be moved aside for events held in the publishing offices. The centre of the loft is designed as a communal area. All the shelving was designed by us. We opted for a minimalist colour palette of white and light grey tones to allow the books to shine as the focal point.
