Forststraße

The top floor of the house on Forststrasse in Berlin-Steglitz, built in 1907, has been converted into a flat for a family of four. To make the most of the building’s considerable depth, a large roof terrace has been cut into the roof. The living spaces are arranged around this terrace, ensuring they receive optimal natural light and share a generous connection to the outdoors. The layout of the communal areas creates sightlines across both the full depth of the flat and the width of the building. Skylights accentuate the endpoints of these sightlines. Two internal bathrooms divide the flat and separate the communal areas from the bedrooms. The children’s bedrooms, together with the shared bathroom, are situated near the entrance at the front of the flat, whilst the parents’ private area, with its own bathroom and dressing room, is located at the rear.
